I started this site at a time in my life when money was very tight. If I made any purchase I researched it completely because I couldn't afford to waste money. Things were so bad I wouldn't buy a box of nails or screws without weighing the different options because there was no extra room in my budget for mistakes. As a result I got very good at researching and reviewing products. Family and friends frequently come to me for advice before making various purchasing decisions. I spend a considerable amount of time making my purchasing decisions and it helps that I can get compensated for that time by sharing my opinions with others. To do that I have advertising in my site in various forms.
Affiliate Links
Wherever possible I will link products to retailers with affiliate links. If you click on a product link that takes you to a retailer I will be compensated if you make a purchase. I choose retailers I personally buy from regularly and who I trust. I will do my best to give an honest opinion on a product whether I'm generating affiliate revenue from it or not. My goal is to provide useful and relevant information that helps you and I make it easier to find the products that I'm reviewing or using in a project by linking to them directly. If I'm reviewing a product I will always give my honest opinion on the good and bad aspects of it.
The products and services linked from this site will not influence the content of this site.
Third Party Ad Networks
At times I run third party advertisement banners on my site. I do not generally know what ads are being run nor do I have much control over them. These advertisements will not influence the content of this site.
Direct Advertising
I sometimes also get requests for direct ad placements. These advertisements will not influence the content of this site.
Free Products
I sometimes get products free to review on this site. The product will appear on this site based on the request to review it. My time is limited so I tend to only review products I can use and I think are useful. No matter how I got a product I do my best to review it honestly. If the product is great I want people to know about it. If the product can be improved I want the manufacturer to know how to improve it.
I also get products through a program not connected to this site but sometimes those products are applicable to my readers on TomBuildsStuff. If I find a product that is worth writing about I will post it here as well. I get to pick which products I get free to review and I also get to decide which products I will post on this site.
When I receive a product for free in exchange for review on this site I will indicate that I received the product in exchange for a review.
These products and companies will not influence the content of my site.
Even though I receive compensation for posts or advertisements, I always give my honest opitions, findings, beliefs or experiences on those topics or products. The views and opinions expressed on thsi blog are purely my own.
