If you have Nespresso Vertuo coffee maker you can save a lot of money by refilling the pods yourself. You just cut off the old foil top and use new foil tops after It's a little cumbersome because the pods are round on the bottom and it can be difficult to align the foil top so I designed this Nespresso Pod Refill Holder that can be 3D printed to make refiling Nespresso Vertuo Pods easier. My 3D Printed Nespresso Vertuo Pod Refill Holder will hold up to 2 Nespresso Vertuo pods. It is small and compact for easy storage. I have a video showing how to use it and links to where you can download the .stl files to 3D print your own.
How to Refill Nespresso Vertuo Pods
I made a couple of small improvements to the design since making the video which you'll see in the .stl file. I raised the pods up off the bottom surface a little bit. That way if you spill some coffee grounds outside the Nespresso Vertuo Pod there's less chance it gets stuck on the new foil lid. I also increased the leg height slightly.

How to Make a Nespresso Vertuo Pod Refill Holder
If you have a 3D printer or know someone that does and you'd like to print your own I've made the .stl file you'll need to print available on Thingiverse.
You'll also need some of the foil refill lids. I haven't tried this with other brands so if you print this and don't have other lids I would recommend you also get these CAPMESSO Vertuoline Aluminum Foil Lids.
Visit Thingiverse to download my Nespresso Pod Refill Holder .stl file.

- Place the Pod Refill Holder on your digital scale. Use a plate if your scale isn't big enough to hold it like mine isn't.
- Place the pods to refill in the Pod Refill Holder. You should have already removed the old foil lid, cleaned and allowed them to dry completely.
- Tare the scale to set it to zero.
- Add coffee in the first cup (see table below)
- Tare the scale after filling the first cup.
- Add coffee to the second cup.
- One by one add the lids to the pods pressing down on the rim with your finger.
- Remove each pod and fold the foil over the edge of the pod.
How much coffee to refill Nespresso Vertuo Pod?
When refilling your Nespresso Vertuo Coffee pods you want to make sure you add the right amount of coffee for that size pod.
- The small, espresso, Nespresso Vertuo pod contains 5-7 grams of coffee
- The medium, double espresso or grand lungo, Nespresso Vertuo pod contains 9.5-10 grams of coffee.
- The large, alto or coffee mug, Nespresso Vertuo pod contains 12.5-13 grams of coffee.
You can experiment a bit to make sure the coffee comes out to your liking. For my taste and grind size I like to go 15 grams for the coffee mug, which is the only coffee I really make in it.
